A KING'S ANSWER TO A SUBJECT WHO ASKED HIM IF HE HAD ANY
FEELING.
If thousands die for me, must I be sore?
Kings should have hearts of marble or of steel;
They for themselves, not for their subjects feel.
What are the people but a mass of clods?
But Kings derive their origin from Gods?
